Clergy abuse, 2015

In 2013, when the Royal Commission into Child Abuse commenced I made the decision to give evidence and tell my story. At the same time I chanced upon the Kelsos website and made contact with the firm by giving them my details. From the moment I was contacted I felt completely supported even though raising the issue of my abuse yet again caused me great trauma.

These people have been a guiding light for me when things got very dark. They believe in what they do and their advocacy for survivors of child abuse is awe inspiring.

Jodie Scanlon rang me regularly and guided me through the ordeal of making a victims statement with great sensitivity and care. At times I wanted to give up because for me, as with all survivors, remembering my past is always fraught with emotion.

Peter Kelso also rang me regularly and not only gave me legal advice but also listened to my emotional and spiritual angst and was nothing short of brilliant when I had to meet with church officials. These people have been a guiding light for me when things got very dark. They believe in what they do and their advocacy for survivors of child abuse is awe inspiring.

Thanks to the professionals at Kelso Lawyers my life has changed completely for the better. They fought for my right to be compensated for my terrible childhood abuse at the hands of the Catholic Church. The most valuable gift that Kelso Lawyers have given me is the ability to trust people again. I now know that there are truly good people in the world who advocate and empower people like me who have suffered as children.

Thank you Kelso Lawyers, especially Jodie and Peter.
