Jodie Scanlon has always wanted to make a difference to people’s lives and, with this goal in mind, started out studying nursing and social sciences. She soon realised, however, that a legal qualification would provide her with the most appropriate skills to make real change in the lives of people who had experienced disadvantage.
Jodie’s expertise in both law and social science ensures that she is able to not only negotiate the legal complexities in historical child abuse cases, but also bring compassion and understanding to her role.
It’s important to Jodie that her clients feel supported and acknowledged throughout the claims process, because it is only through a trusting lawyer-client relationship that the best possible settlement is achievable.
For Jodie, her role is about helping clients to rebuild their lives both by securing a solid financial settlement, but also in helping them to find the confidence to open up to friends and family about their suffering. It’s all about assisting survivors to move on to lead full and meaningful lives – with the financial capacity to explore possibilities that they may have never thought possible.
