<\/span><b>16 843 children in out of home care.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Beneath is the breakdown of living arrangements.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Foster Care &#8211; 47.1%<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Relatives\/Kin &#8211; 49.1%<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Family Group Homes &#8211; 0.1%<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Residential Care &#8211; 3.3%<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Independent Living 0.4%<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Private corporations are making millions of dollars from these children. <\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Today, NSW holds the record with the most children in State care by far, nearly half of the whole country\u2019s wards. Up to 40% are indigenous children. (Indigenous people make up only 2% of the State\u2019s population.) Indigenous children in care are massively over-represented. That\u2019s a fact.<\/span><\/p><p><b>60% of homeless people have been in foster care at some stage.<\/b><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Billions of taxpayer dollars have gone into funding programs which have seen little to no proof of success. Nothing seems to change. The numbers keep growing.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The NSW Government created a protection reform &#8211; Keep Them Safe &#8211; as a response to the Special Commission of Inquiry into Child Protection Services in NSW. This reform resulted in a financial commitment of \u00a0$750 million over five years, with the aim of providing our vulnerable children with an improved system to help break the cycle of living in out of home care. <\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This reform is significantly invested in providing more prevention and early intervention tactics. <\/span><\/p><p><b>Approximately $220 million is dedicated to out of home care.<\/b><\/p><h2>How We Can Help (Foster Care Statistics)<\/h2><p>The system is flawed.<\/p><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.illawarramercury.com.au\/story\/5862295\/new-laws-to-make-child-neglect-a-jail-time-crime\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The number of deadbeat parents are growing.<\/a> Outcomes are not getting any better for the generations to come.
