{"id":776,"date":"2016-06-16T16:41:32","date_gmt":"2016-06-16T06:41:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kelsolawyers.com\/au\/?post_type=newsitem&#038;p=776"},"modified":"2024-05-30T16:15:03","modified_gmt":"2024-05-30T06:15:03","slug":"two-former-parra-girls-bosses-charged-rape","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kelsolawyers.com\/au\/two-former-parra-girls-bosses-charged-rape\/","title":{"rendered":"Two former \u2018Parra Girls\u2019 bosses charged with rape"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Two former Parramatta Girls Training School bosses charged with rape<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kelsolawyers.com\/au\/paedophile-offenders\/noel-greenaway\/\">Noel Greenaway<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/kelsolawyers.com\/au\/paedophile-offenders\/paedophile-offenders-frank-valentine\/\">Frank Valentine<\/a> have been charged with three counts of raping girls attending <a href=\"https:\/\/kelsolawyers.com\/au\/institutions\/parramatta-girls-training-school\/\">Parramatta Girls Training School<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Greenaway was superintendent of the institution between 1963 and 1966, and Valentine acted as relieving deputy superintendent between 1971 and 1973.<\/p>\n<p>Two of the rapes allegedly occurred in the institution&#8217;s notorious dungeon and emerged out of an investigation as part of the Royal Commission into Child Sexual Abuse.<\/p>\n<p>Greenaway and Valentine were also charged with 15 counts of assaulting up to six young women who were under their care at the institution during the 1960s and 70s.<\/p>\n<h2>Paedophile teacher sentenced to 10 years in prison<\/h2>\n<p>John G Ferris has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for kidnapping and sexually assaulting children while he was a teacher at Ben Venue Public School in Armidale during the 1960s and \u201870s.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors had been pushing for a 20-year maximum penalty to be applied following emotional testimony from eight victims at Armidale Court that detailed the ongoing anxiety, depression and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder they continue to suffer from decades after the abuse.<\/p>\n<h2>Pope Francis threatens to sack Catholic bishops<\/h2>\n<p>Pope Francis has introduced sweeping changes to the <a href=\"https:\/\/kelsolawyers.com\/au\/institutions\/catholic-church\/\">Catholic Church<\/a> that promises catholic bishops who turn a blind eye to child sexual abuse will be removed from office.<\/p>\n<p>Bishops who are found to be negligent or lacking in diligence will be held to account for cases of child sexual abuse that occur during their tenure.<\/p>\n<p>The crackdown is part of the Pope\u2019s zero-tolerance approach to abuse and comes off the back of a string of widespread cover-ups, including <a href=\"https:\/\/kelsolawyers.com\/au\/paedophile-enablers\/paedophile-enablers-bishop-ronald-mulkearns\/\">Ballarat Bishop Ronald Mulkearns<\/a>\u2019 admission that hundreds of children were abused by church paedophiles, including <a href=\"https:\/\/kelsolawyers.com\/au\/paedophile-offenders\/paedophile-offenders-gerald-ridsdale\/\">Gerald Ridsdale<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/kelsolawyers.com\/au\/paedophile_offenders\/brother-robert-best\/\">Robert Best<\/a>, under his watch.<\/p>\n<h2>Missing records threaten abuse enquiry<\/h2>\n<p>Retired police officer Greg Harding has revealed that decades of records have gone missing from St Albans boys\u2019 home as the Royal Commission into Child Sexual Abuse prepares to investigate child sexual abuse allegations at the Anglican-run institution in Newcastle.<\/p>\n<p>Harding told the ABC that his investigations revealed records at the boys\u2019 home were either missing or had been destroyed.<\/p>\n<p>Greens MP David Shoebridge has called on the Royal Commission to investigate how the records mysteriously vanished in what could be found to be criminal conduct.<\/p>\n<p>One former resident of the home has detailed the shocking sexual, physical and mental abuse that he experienced at the institution during the 1960s.<\/p>\n<p>The unnamed survivor says he was systematically passed around between clergy members and their associates.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Two former Parramatta Girls Training School bosses charged with rape Noel Greenaway and Frank Valentine have been charged with three counts of raping girls attending Parramatta Girls Training School.
