Frederick Brian Jones (News)
Frederick Brian Jones is an 83-year-old art teacher. He has been charged with having sexual intercourse with a six-year-old student at his private home studio in Sydney.
Jones has operated a “cash in hand” home business for seven years called “Flair for Art” in Peakhurst. He taught both children and adults how to paint and draw.
The NSW Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad have been investigating Frederick Brian Jones since December 2019. It is alleged he repeatedly had sexual intercourse with the girl for five years between 2013 and 2018, ending when she was 11-years-old.
Jones appeared in Sutherland Local Court on 5 February 2020 and was refused bail. He was charged with ten offences including indecent assault of a person under 16 years, having sexual intercourse with a person aged between 10 and 14 years, and having sexual intercourse with a child under the age of 10.
He will remain in custody until his next court appearance on 6 April 2020.
Until then, a provisional apprehended violence order has been set in place to protect the girl. Frederick Brian Jones cannot approach or contact the girl and must maintain a 100-metre distance from where the victim lives, or any other place listed.
He is also restricted from harassing, threatening or assaulting her family.
