It’s a horrible thing to learn that a loved one has been abused. What’s even worse is when the perpetrator turns out to be someone you trusted, like a teacher or parish priest.
Paedophile priests were protected by their seniors who moved them from parish to parish after their horrific crimes were uncovered by concerned parents and members of the public. Time after time, senior members of the clergy failed to step in and say, “This is enough.” These individuals, who were held in such high regard by society, failed to take real action and report these criminals to police. Instead, they stayed quiet, held secretive meetings, and shuffled these monsters from one parish to the next.
No community in Australia was safe from these priests and their protectors.
