Shame, guilt and self-loathing is all I had experienced for over 30 years. Although I had made enquiries with a few different lawyers regarding the Royal Commission into Child Abuse, it was an unexpected call I received from Peter Kelso one afternoon.
You see, so many other firms had either auto responded to my enquiry or worse, responded unprofessionally and told me that I had no chance.
[breakout quote=”If you feel like it’s too much and you have fallen through the cracks, like nobody cares or believes you, please don’t give up. Peter Kelso and Jodie Scanlon do care about you.”]
Back to Peter Kelso, he called personally and during that call I immediately became emotional — crying, confused and scared. Peter listened and accepted, cared and gave me hope. He gained my trust in a phone call. I never thought that was possible.
Jodie Scanlon was my next contact. She listened, supported and fought for me. I felt that I mattered. She never let me down even in my darkness. Never rejected my calls, always listening even during my irrational periods … and there were many. She even found me a therapist who was amazing and supporting.
The process was harrowing due to whom the opposition was, but I never felt alone or defeated. If you feel like it’s too much and you have fallen through the cracks, like nobody cares or believes you, please don’t give up. Peter Kelso and Jodie Scanlon do care about you. They are wonderful human beings and I am forever grateful to them and the positive results they achieved for me.
